Summer course with practical exercises.
In the summer course in agrarian history, you will learn how the agrarian landscape and the vegetation has been shaped by agriculture throughout history. It includes exercises in the field in recognizing the historical elements, such as fossil fields, houses, pre-historical tombs and traditionally dependent plant species. The course also includes practical exercises with both the older and modern methods, including traditional fence construction, set of portable electric fence, grinding the scythe, haymaking and plant inventory. For the practical elements discussions includes techniques, time-consuming and applicability in different types of vegetation.
The summer course is offered full time two weeks before midsummer and the first week in August. In between the students’ makes their own management plan. The course takes place at the cultural reserve Linnés Hammarby outside Uppsala.
